Day 7

Today began much different that the previous day ended. Instead of wind, rain and lightening, there was a dense fog with not a hint of a breeze. It took two or three hours of sunshine to burn the fog away.

Our day started with a big breakfast in the casino buffet. It is way too easy to overeat in a buffet. After breakfast, those who hadn't had their fill of the games returned to the casino to pick up where they left off the night before.

In my case, I headed outdoors to enjoy the nice weather that was so different than the day before. The sun was shinning and the air was comfortably cool. I took this opportunity to read the local newspaper.

The weather had cleared up by the time we left for Wichita

We were on our way home at 11 o'clock working on finding our way around Topeka. With Jim driving and me with map in hand, we had no trouble finding our way to the Kansas Turnpike. we had been on the turnpike for about an hour when we decided to stop in Emporia for lunch.

Montana Mike's Steakhouse would be our destination for lunch. Montana Mike's is an interesting place. It is set up to look like a hunting lodge with animal hides and trophy heads hanging on the walls. Also hanging on the walls was fishing and hunting gear. I decided to try the buffalo burger, it turned out to by quite good.

The talk over lunch was mostly about the games played at the casino. Discussion of wins and losses were carried on as our food was consumed. With lunch over we got back on the road, it seemed as if the remainder of the trip was relatively short.

When we arrived back in Wichita Jim dropped us off at our motorhome where it was nice to enter our air conditioned home on wheels. Life here would be very difficult without the air conditioning of our living space.

Kay and I returned to Jim and Donna's place to enjoy another session with the puppies. They are at a very cute stage of development. While Kay was busy with a puppy I called my sister and had a nice talk with her.

Kay and I were introduced to Steven's girlfriend who arrived while were visiting with Jim and Donna. Lauren is an attractive young woman from Louisiana.

The day finished with everybody holding and playing with puppies.
