A Slow Day

The day began at a leisurely pace for Kay and I as we didn't have any morning classes or seminars scheduled. After getting up and around I decided to take a walk through the camping area and then to find the Monaco service booth.

This is the view I saw as I began my day

As I walked along the road on the south side of the camping area, I found a place to take a series of photos to use for a pseudo-panoramic picture. The series of images is of one of the camping areas filled with motorhomes. This particular camping area was on a lower level from the surrounding areas. Behind the lower camping area, along with a view of the Cascade Mountains is one of the electric hook-up areas that is overlooking the lower area. That is where one of the motorhomes in our group is located

I proceeded to the fairgrounds to find the Monaco service booth. After reaching the service booths I found a sign that directed me to the Monaco service booth located at the Monaco parts trailer back on the edge of the camping area. So I jumped on a tram that was heading out to the far side of the camp area. The tram stop, where I got off, was a short distance from the parts trailer. At the service booth I made an appointment to get the passenger seat in our motorhome fixed.

Then I made my way back toward our motorhome on the other side of the camping area. Along the way, I recognized a familiar motorhome that belongs to Dick and Dorisdean. I knocked on the door to see if they were home. Dorisdean came to the door and invited me in. It was nice to see them in there own rig and visit for a while. I was invited to stay for lunch, but I had to decline as I knew Kay would be preparing lunch for me.

I recognized this motorhome as that of our friends Dick and Dorisdean

When I arrived at our motorhome, there was no motorhome between our rig and Tom's and Nora's motorhome. Larry and Martie had left to continue there vacation on the road.

After lunch Kay and I took it easy until time to head out to the Event Center. I was looking forward to the evening entertainment. The featured entertainer would be Frankie Avalon. Some of the people in our group were looking at the new motorhomes, so we would be meeting them at the Event Center.

A few of us rode the tram into the event center together. Once there, Kay and I, with the help of another couple in our group, were able to cordon off a small block of seats to hold for others in our group that were soon to arrive. We were able to direct the arriving, motorhome shoppers to our area using small handy-talkies.

We were fortunate to be able to get all in our group together before the show began. As on the previous evening, the program began with a few speeches made by members of the FMCA leadership and a "Thank you" to the convention volunteers.

Frankie Avalon put on a good show that featured a lot of golden-oldies that brought back memories of the days of my youth. Frankie introduced two of the members of his band as his two of his sons. Many of the spectators had an opportunity to see Mr. Avalon up close and personal when he took a stroll through the audience while singing.

After the show, some in our group returned to camp while others returned to the motorhome display area. Back in our motorhome, Kay makes a phone call to our son to talk to him and his family. Kay had to move to the front of our motorhome to find a hot-spot to make the phone call. The desert scenery lit by low evening sunshine made a nice backdrop for her phone conversation.

During the daytime, people in our group run their generators so they can use air conditioners to keep cool. After dark, Kevin made a run into town to get a couple of cans of gasoline to keep his generator running the next day so Tina's little dog Mickey would be cool the next day.

A few in our group gathered in front of Kevin's and Tina's motorhome to talk about the activities of the day. After visiting for a while, I returned to my motorhome to end a relaxing day.
