I started the day slow by reading the newspaper and talking to Jim about buying cars and camcorders. There normally would be the aroma of a turkey roasting by now, but Jim isn't cooking the turkey this year. Even though the big feast was to be held here this year, the turkey was being prepared elsewhere to be delivered just before the meal.

We would have our usual Thanksgiving dinner with Kay's and Donna's families. My mother usually would be here, but she felt she would like to stay closer to her home this year. So she had Thanksgiving dinner with my sister and her family. My sister lives only a few blocks from our mother's place.

Kay's family consisted of her mother and father (Lois and George) along with Jim, Donna and Steven. Donna's family was made up of her mother Edith and Edith's friend Chris. Donna's brother Terry and their sister Debbie was here with her husband Dave. He prepared a turkey and a beef roast by smoking them rather than roasting. Both pieces of meat had a wonderful aroma when he brought them into the house.

Donna told us about a thanksgiving cartoon she had seen. Picture a blind farmer in the usual coveralls, wearing a straw hat and dark glasses. In one hand he is using a white cane to find his way through a pen full of turkeys. In his other hand he holds an axe. All around him the turkeys are going - Mooooo - moooooo.

Lois has a set of Tri-Ominos that is missing the instructions. We have a set in our motorhome that is still in its original box with the instructions. So, when Lois was interested in seeing the instructions, Kay took her out to our motorhome to get the Tri-Ominos out. When they didn't come back in for a long time, I went out to the motorhome and found them playing a game of Tri-Ominos. I told them it was almost time to eat.

The table is set and ready to receive the food

We had a lot of food, especially pumpkin pie. Chris brought two really big pies, Edith brought a very fancy cake as well as apple dumplings. This year, for the first time, I did not stuff myself. After having a piece of pumpkin pie I was comfortably full.

After our meal, it was nice to visit with everyone. A game of Tri-Ominos was played by Kay, Lois and Steven. George left early so, Kay and I took Lois home when she was ready to leave. From George and Lois' place, Kay and I went over to visit with my mother for a while.

While we were there, I found out that my sister didn't come over to visit because she is mad about something. I don't know what she could be so mad about, I guess that is her problem. Maybe we will see her next time we are in town.

When we left my mother's place, we came back to Jim and Donna's place to watch the Shania Twain special on TV. I just sort of vegged out and ended up watching two late night shows after the special. It was a restful way to end the day.
