The SouthwestWichitaLittle RockReturn to California

This trip was the first trip that Kay and I took after retiring. I can tell you that not having to rush back home to go to work makes for a much more relaxed trip. Even when we wanted to keep a schedule, we found it very nice that we could extend our stay in a particular location.

As with previous treks, we found that there were things that formed a theme — this was another one of those "MORE than ever before" trips. As in we saw more very-long freight trains, drove more miles, were away from home more days, traveled in more new — to us — territory, saw more tornado damage, visited more casinos, took more photographs, and produced more trip web-links — the most comprehensive collection of trip web-links ever produced for an RV Fun Trips story. I ended up with so much web content that I had to split the trip story into four separate tomes and provide links to hold everything together in one big story.

A real treat for us was to visit long time friends in parts of the country we've never visited. And the icing on the cake was having our friends introduce us to their friends. We met very nice people on our journey.

On this trip, as on some previous journeys, we found it very nice to always have our own car with us when we wanted to go exploring or even to just do some quick shopping.

When visiting the William J. Clinton Presidential Library I learned a lot about the running of the presidency that I feel could be found in all presidential libraries. I will visit more such libraries in the future.

After our trip we learned that we had twice driven by Checotah, Oklahoma, the home town of American Idol winner Carrie Underwood.

This was one of the best RV Fun Trips we've taken. The trip has just whetted my interest in making more trips in the future.
