Saturday

Our day began slowly, because this campground was close enough to home that it wouldn't take very long to get there. I took advantage of the early morning sunlight to go for a walk to the property behind the campground. I found an old barn that had a woodpecker working on the roof shingles. Rata-tat-tat echoed across the valley as the noisy birds head moved almost to fast to see the motion. The sounds of other woodpeckers could be heard coming from birds in the distance.

This woodpecker made a noise that could be heard across the valley

The roadway that connected the barn area to the campground had a cut-off tree trunk lying on the fence, next to the road, where the tree probably fell during a storm. The position of the trunk meant that the tree blocked the roadway so that the tree had to be cut off. The remaining section of tree trunk was lying on a bent pipe that runs along the top of the fence.

Looks as if a fallen tree customized this fence design

Many of the trees in the area had Spanish moss hanging from the branches. This made the scene look somewhat like something from America's southland. I made it back to our motorhome in time to have breakfast before getting out on the road for the last leg of our trip. The trip home was routine with familiar scenery going by as our caravan traveled south on Highway 101. We would drive through the redwood forest with the narrow winding road that is common in Northern California.

When our little group reached Highway 20 just north of Ukiah, Vince turned off to continue eastbound as he and Cliffie headed for their home on the other side of the Sierras. We all said our "Goodbyes" on our CB radios. Now our caravan was down to two rigs. The remainder of the trip was uneventful as we found our way to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our route home took us through more redwood forests

I followed JB down to the I-580 turn-off where we went across the bridge to the East Bay and connected up with I-880. When JB and Helle reached their turn-off Kay and I were now on the final leg of another very fun RV trip. It felt good when we had our motorhome parked next the garage. As I shut the engine off I thought that we had been on a truly great RV Fun Trip.

After each RV Fun Trip it is nice to get home
