Sandra Kay Lambert – 1943 – 2008

Sandra Kay Lambert was born in January, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas. She lost her year and a half long battle with cancer July, 2008 at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California.

She grew up in the prosperity of post-war Middle America. Her father was a police officer and a veteran of WWII and her mother a beautician with a shop right in the front part of her house. She enjoyed tap dancing and horseback riding as a child and teenager, and all the trappings of an optimistic suburban family life growing up. Her brother Jim was born when she was almost a teenager, and they grew very close as she helped to raise him as a young child.

50 years ago in May,1958, Maury and Sandra Kay met for the first time, and like a sub-plot out of the movie American Graffiti, grew closer and began imagining their future together. As their high school days ended, it was apparent that they were meant for each other and married. Their son Michael was born in 1962 while Maury was attending the US Navy Electronics Technician School in Great Lakes, Illinois.

The Navy brought Kay and her new family out to the San Francisco Bay Area where they have enjoyed life ever since. Kay loved living in California. She loved the beach, the redwood forests, and she loved being a wife and mother. In 1971 she and her family moved to Cupertino, in the heart of Silicon Valley, where she lived ever since.

Sandra Kay was kind-hearted and compassionate. She was the one you could come to to make your trouble just a little bit smaller. She was the one you could come to if you wanted to rejoice and celebrate good news. She was the one you could come to share a good laugh.

She dearly loved her friends at Varian Medical Systems during her 27+ years working in the Oncology Systems business unit, and she dearly loved her friends in the Venture Outers RV Club. Her greatest joy was doing activities with her grandchildren.

Sandra Kay is survived by her husband Maurice of Cupertino CA; her brother James, his wife Donna, their son Steven all of Wichita, KS; her son Michael, his wife Cynthia, and their three children Grace, Jack, and Wyatt all of Folsom CA.
